    Did you know that the text on your Web site contributes to the perception potential customers have of your company?

That’s right, people gain a vision of your company’s abilities and inabilities simply by reading your Web site. That’s why it’s so important to get your site content right from the very first moment they see it.

For instance, if the text isn’t written well – poor grammar, spelling, or punctuation makes them wonder how much attention you pay to details when they use your services or buy your products.

In another example, if the text is poorly formatted it leaves the impression that you don’t have a clear vision of your business or their use of it. Having to wade through long sentences and dense paragraphs eats up their time and could leave them wondering how their user experience with you as a customer might go – will there be gobs of red tape or too many steps to order?

What if it’s long and difficult to understand? That could leave the impression that you’re trying to put something over on your customers or you aren’t clear enough in your own mind of your business and that could lead to lapses in service. Do you explain your policies clearly and if not, do your employees understand them any better?

Then there’s the connection between sections of your site, the way you link between them, or your navigation scheme. That could leave the impression that you don’t know what you’re doing – will you know what you’re doing for them? If you can’t get the navigation right, will you be able to get the ship-to address right?

Finally, how does your privacy statement read? Is it a muddle of legal phrases melded into long, boring paragraphs, or is it simply constructed and easy to understand? The easier it is to understand, the more clearly it is set up and explained, the more customer-focused you will look to users.
